Welcome to Construction and Utility Solutions Partnerships

 

David Walton is the founding Director of CUSP, a company specialising in the provision of added value services across the supply chain in the construction and utility sectors including:

 

    - Regulated companies

    - We also work with new entrants to the UK market

 

Prior to establishing CUSP in 2011 he worked for Veolia Water where he was responsible for their non regulated business in England and Wales, including several joint ventures with major utility, construction and consultancy organisations. He has also been Managing Director of one of their regulated businesses, Veolia Water South East, leading it through the AMP4 period. Other sector companies that David has worked for include Hyder Consulting, where

he was responsible for their sewerage business, and Severn Trent Water. He is a results orientated and influential leader with real evidence of achievement in business strategy, direction, management and development.

  • Organisational and Business Strategy

    Strategy & Business Review

     

    Client: Water & Sewerage Company, England

    Recent and proposed market reform in the water industry led our Client to require a “health check” to ensure its growth strategy was still relevant and that its approach to competition and other non-regulated business effective and sustainable. CUSP utilised its extensive knowledge of the water industry and non-regulated business activity to complete a review and subsequently made recommendations which focussed on organisational design, operational performance, and products/services offered.

     

    Strategy Development

     

    Client: Water Company, England

    Our Client is a well respected water company that already has one of the highest meter penetrations in England. In preparation for the next price review (PR14) the company wished to undertake a review of its existing metering strategy and associated policies to determine whether it was still relevant looking at 2015 and beyond. CUSP ran a facilitated workshop with the executive management team of the water company, which completed a review of the existing strategy and policies, and identified areas where development would be required to produce a robust forward looking strategy. The workshop was also successful in helping the company to reach consensus on its priorities in an inclusive manner which considered all business activity that has a touching point with metering.

     

    Client: Water Company, England

    CUSP has been commissioned by a top ranked water company to lead the development of its metering strategy and associated policies. The commission includes the project management of the process and work packages that consider data requirements, technology, and installation options in conjunction with cost benefit assessment and customer willingness to pay activities.

     

     

     

  • Business Development and Growth

    Business Development Support

     

    Client: Consultant, UK

    Our Client is a leading global company that provides beginning to end supply chain services to the water industry. The company engaged CUSP to input its regulatory and operational experience to the formulation of the Clients business development strategy

    for PR14. This involved producing a key issues report and identifying potential innovative high value service offerings.

     

    Client: Water & Sewerage Company, England

    Market reforms are proposed that are designed to encourage competition for business customers in the water industry. Our Client wishes to participate in these developments

    to secure greater market share. CUSP was commissioned to support our Client in the preparation of an application to Ofwat for a Water Supply Licence. This included preparation of a draft business plan to cover the first three years operation. 

     

    Client: Consultant, UK

    Customer management has become increasingly important to water companies given

    the impact which the service incentive mechanism can have on revenue. For many water companies there are significant touching points between the supply chain and their customers. Our Client has commissioned CUSP to support them in the development of an approach to customer management that will become embedded in the organisation.  CUSP will utilised its water industry operating and customer service experience to ensure the approach was designed to have a positive affect on the end customer’s experience.

     

    Client: Water Company, England

    Our Client, a leading water company intends to replace its existing customer billing system. CUSP was commissioned to support its project team in bringing together the executive and other key stakeholders to reach a consensus on the requirements and priorities expected from the new system. This was achieved through the delivery of a facilitated workshop which included activities designed to identify and prioritise the key requirements. A final procurement strategy report was produced identifying the supplier evaluation criteria and relative weightings.
